On Christmas Day 2014, Allie and Mike met for the first time on eHarmony. They exchanged initial messages and quickly arranged to meet for coffee shortly after the New Year. Their first few dates went very well. So well that after a Saturday night date at the Princeton Art Museum they didn't want to wait another week to see each other again. And so they met for dinner on a cold Wednesday evening in January.
After ordering a side of sweet potato fries and discussing the merits of different varieties of French fries, Allie innocently mentioned that she had never experienced the joy of fresh cut fries with vinegar on the boardwalk down the shore. And so they decided, despite a forecast that called for snow that evening, to change their order to take out and drive to Point Pleasant for a date on the beach. In the snow.
Upon arriving at the deserted beach in Point Pleasant, Mike and Allie walked out on the sand and, with snow falling around them, agreed that they wanted to be together as a couple.
On Valentine's Day weekend 2016, Allie and Mike returned to Point Pleasant. The reason for this trip: to see Mike's sister Terri perform in a local production of Neil Simon's Plaza Suite. Little did Allie know that they would not see a play that day. In fact, there was no play.
Arriving with plenty of time before the "play" was scheduled to begin, Mike suggested that they stop by the beach. Braving temperatures in the single digits, Mike and Allie made their way onto the beach to the same spot where they stood together that snowy night thirteen months prior. After reminiscing about that night, Mike got on one knee to propose...
...and Allie said yes!
